Albums

Toto’s discography consists of 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.

Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggsalbum from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 following the collaboration.

Turn Back, Toto’s third studio album, was criticized by critics due to not having hit singles. In 1985, singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group The band held auditions for the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their 1986 album Fahrenheit.

Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to mark its 20th anniversary. The band went through old recordings and tapes to create the album. The album was a hit by fans, and the band embarked on a tour featuring former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun the drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour and also an interview with the group.

Toto is an American rock group that was formed in 1977 in Van Nuys, Greater Los Angeles. The group is made up of Steve Lukather (vocalist/guitarist), David Paich (bassist), Steve Porcaro (keyboardist/vocalist), Jeff Porcaro and Joseph Williams who is a guitarist and vocalist. The diverse mix of influences in the group makes it one of the most popular groups ever. During the tour Bobby Kimball, the lead singer, was arrested on drug charges. The band decided to let him go at the end of the tour and hired guitarist and singer Joseph Williams in his place. Drummer David Hungate also left the band following the tour. Leland Sklar replaced him.

Toto has released a variety of music videos. The band has also released several compilation videos and DVDs. The band’s most popular video is „Africa” which has over one billion views. The video takes place in a library and features the group performing on top of a pile of books about Africa.

The track „Africa” is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by members of the band and was produced by David Paich. It was a huge success in Europe as well as other countries. The success of the single helped Toto get back into the limelight following their previous album, Turn Back, failed to chart in the United States.
